Bis-type (vicinal)Quaternary Ammonium Salt: Hygienia®

We conducted studies with an university about the relationship amaongthe structureantibacterial activity, and the physical properties of the cationic mono-type quaternary ammonium salt compounds. Then, finally we successfully developed Hygienia, a novel antibacterial compound.

This compound retains the characteristic properties of quaternary ammonium salts while offering features that overcome the shortcomings of existing analogous compounds.

We invite you to make broad use of this innovative organic compound, with its high functionality, safety, and versatility, across industrial sanitation applications.

Characteristicsof Hygienia

Inhibits microbial growth at lower concentrations.

By elucidating the antibacterial mechanism of existing mono-type quaternary ammonium salts, a more advanced bis-type ,vicinal type quaternary ammonium salt was created.

The scientific basis for the activity expression of these advanced compounds has also been demonstrated.

Quaternary ammonium salts have until now been considered to have a weakness in their low efficacy against fungi  and yeasts; however, Hygienia is water-soluble while exhibiting excellent antifungal, fungicidal, and antiviral activity.

Antibacterial activity is expressed across a wide range of conditions.

Efficacy is not diminished even across a wide pH range, a wide temperature range, or in the presence of various organic compounds.

This is a specific property  not found in existing quaternary ammonium salts.

Aqueous solutions are almost neutral.

The aqueous solutions is extremely stable, ensuring quality and safety throughout storage and transportation.

Furthermore, as corrosivity toward metals, resins, and similar materials is very low, there is no concern of adverse effects on machinery and equipment.

Its water solubility enables easy and safe formulation.

As Hygienia has a water solubility of 50% or greater, preparation of aqueous formulations is straightforward.

Since no solvents or no dispersants are required for formulation, there are no concerns regarding volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it an environmentally friendly agent.

Formulation costs can also be reduced.

It is a highly safe compound.

Quaternary ammonium salts have long been recognized for their high level of safety.

Like existing quaternary ammonium salts, Hygienia is likewise a highly safe..

Applications of Hygienia

It offers broad applicability across multiple industrial domains.

Owing to its numerous features, Hygienia is already in broad use across fields including water treatment, food processing, and residential disinfection and deodorization.

Delivery in forms amenable to secondary processing, such as various formulations and aqueous solutions, is also possible.
